Shoreline Shuffle: Rescheduled

As I’m sure you know, we had to reschedule the 5th Annual Shoreline Shuffle 5K Trail Run from May 4 to Sunday, Sept. 29. We did this at the request of the Kansas Trails Council (of which I am a member), because of poor trail conditions. We feared that parts of the course could be damaged by heavy traffic, following that week’s severe storms.

Possible reschedule dates in May and June were too filled with conflicts. Heat, humidity, ticks and poison ivy made us think twice about later in the summer. In the end, we chose the last weekend in September since that’s when the Shuff took place in its first three years, and trail and running conditions were perfect.

We’ll be re-opening registration on ultrasignup.com very shortly, so if you weren’t able to make the May 4 date, you have another shot for Sept. 29. Of course, all who signed up for May 4 are still good to go for Sept. 29 with no action required. New packet pick-up date/info out soon.

I’ll also put out a new call for volunteers, but won’t gear up on that effort until after we do our Ironman Aid Station. With the Hawk 100/50/26.2 just two weeks before the Shuff, I realize this puts some strain on our volunteer pool, but we’ll do the best we can. I for one wouldn’t dream of missing either.

Please do this even if you have already requested a refund via Facebook or previous e-mails. We will take care of you, but I can’t promise action on refunds requested any other way.

If you’re not immediately sure whether you can make Sept. 29 or not, we’re leaving the window for refunds open until midnight May 31. As of June 1, if you haven’t asked for a refund, I’ll expect to see you toeing the line at the 5th annual Shoreline Shuffle, with huge grin, in beautiful weather, rarin’ to go!
